I didn't really look at it too good I guess because when I got it home and hand washed it I found 4 holes in it. Sad because I felt like I had just thrown out $10 but mad at myself because I didn't go over the sweater before buying it. How to save the sweater? Add a huge patch to the front? Make it a dog sweater? Turn it into a pillow case? Make leg warmers out of the arms? I went thru my embellishment box and found some pink felt flower petals I had cut last Christmas and some leaf ribbon I bought in Cambria last year. I sewed up the holes and went to work....<br />

A Dodge Masquerade PartyWe had super fun time with our friends at our Masquerade New Year's Eve Party. The masks were all so unique and I really have to thank my friends for playing along. Some masks were store bought and others were hand made but everyone showed up with one and that was the best, even if we didn't stay in our masks it was just fun to see how silly we could all be. Food and drinks are my favorite part of any of our parties. Chris has been smoking a lot of tasty meats in recent years and one of my faves is his smoked salmon so that's nearly always part of our menu. I really wanted a signature drink for the eve so i decided to go with champagne cocktails and they turned out to be a big hit. Our hors d'oeuvres were smoked salmon, cheese & charcuterie platter, canapes, deviled eggs and a tasty shrimp dip made by Kim. I served 3 different types of mixers for the champagne cocktails - kir royale, champagne 'rita, amaretto surprise. The mixers I chose to show off in laboratory beakers and the champagne bottle was on ice just ready to mix. Some pictures from that night.<br />

I'm having a lot of fun with my one of a kind whimsical designs. I've made the Xmas Sox every year since my son Maxwell was born in 2003. I sell them for $45 and they really are one of a kind and a lot of the work I do by hand. They measure about 24 inches from top left at hanging loop to the lowest part of toe curve. Hope you enjoy them. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

I was collecting pretty aprons for a while there but now I've decided to make 'em. Inspired by an article in yesterdays LA Times I went directly to my fabric pile and came up with something I think is pretty cute. I think I'll make some more and possibly sell them. Let me know what you think.camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-17915281337274867642010-04-07T07:14:00.000-07:002010-04-07T07:14:03.489-07:00City Sip<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg65QMS46rh8MS8nKxtDwjoYZdE8jnXNwMkMs4wy6epQIcCz6vYcpEhCUs_fyO9W70HIWqrjCAQtlTHtpC0DRZBgEz6eEr1Mw0DKpuc8c3t3_Ie1olKnnPbxJ4V0fmBGbbktuE810EAYrOM/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg65QMS46rh8MS8nKxtDwjoYZdE8jnXNwMkMs4wy6epQIcCz6vYcpEhCUs_fyO9W70HIWqrjCAQtlTHtpC0DRZBgEz6eEr1Mw0DKpuc8c3t3_Ie1olKnnPbxJ4V0fmBGbbktuE810EAYrOM/s320/3.jpg" /></a></div><br />

OK our new favorite wine place is <a href="http://citysipla.com/digs.php">City Sip</a>. While getting a massage at <a href="http://www.absolutezenbodywork.com/">Absolute Zen Bodywork</a> (which is a must) I noticed the wine shop downstairs and asked Adrienne about it and she recommend that I give it a try. So for my birthday Chris invited a few our friends to meet up there and it was so worth it. We've been back many times since. The wine list is extensive, beer list is pleasing and if that isn't a enough there's sake. It's one of those places where the bartender knows you and knows what you like. Seriously, talk to Gretchen she'll hook you up! Oh and don't forget your massage, Adrienne is magical.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDsnuB8Oom3VIMzgsLUSId01etG3q0ydKlC3Tz4_B7VuXLg2xX_MX0eFhUaXGhzOYVdpk_FKaHu0bG98OakVZDRGrtrFk02YKY3t139pG1MSrcoMRqy6lGiWl7SRNHuqxO3YVkGK6tzmX7/s1600/8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDsnuB8Oom3VIMzgsLUSId01etG3q0ydKlC3Tz4_B7VuXLg2xX_MX0eFhUaXGhzOYVdpk_FKaHu0bG98OakVZDRGrtrFk02YKY3t139pG1MSrcoMRqy6lGiWl7SRNHuqxO3YVkGK6tzmX7/s320/8.jpg" /></a></div>camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-62277191834781868152010-03-16T18:04:00.000-07:002010-03-16T18:04:06.304-07:00Mashed Potatoes With Kale<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipdJVZuSHX4VKpgQGVrPockJhnuUgPf3oxat-PZDwB112sa4tspxZwBzWMSUOvmUN7Ldc-Vrl0NUeasrZsW19QAqQoaK-6hQ9Iucwx1Q2qx_p5XjvBANK0MLJf1JbClE-Kg0IuilIq8JgC/s1600-h/DSCF9347.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipdJVZuSHX4VKpgQGVrPockJhnuUgPf3oxat-PZDwB112sa4tspxZwBzWMSUOvmUN7Ldc-Vrl0NUeasrZsW19QAqQoaK-6hQ9Iucwx1Q2qx_p5XjvBANK0MLJf1JbClE-Kg0IuilIq8JgC/s320/DSCF9347.JPG" /></a></div>I'm really not a big fan of mashed potatoes but I was watching Rachel Ray one eve and she made these yummy mashed potatoes with kale and manchego cheese. Looking at things differently now I decided to make the dish vegan-style so I mashed the potatoes with earths balance butter and soy milk, cooked the kale separately and then mashed in with vegan cheese (really not necessary) and some roasted garlic I had left over from the night before. Salt and pepper to taste and it ended up being a really flavorful dish on it's own but I thought about the look of this dish and how I would have placed a steak or pork chop on top for Chris. Since veggies are the main course now I went for a can of kidney beans and threw those on top. Well it is! I think as Maxwell is getting older it's fun to get him involved with the crafty parts of decorating. Chris contributed as well with a beautiful heart he painted and put on the mantel. Chris could eat Mexican food everyday of the week if you let him. He knows all the best taco joints around our area. During the 21 day vegan diet we made vegan tacos. Tacos are a must for Chris weekly but vegan tacos? what the heck!?! Chris has wanted to make fresh tortillas for some time. A good start for the vegan tacos was buying a tortilla press and masa. Making fresh tortillas is so simple and so freakin' awesome that you wonder why you've lived with store bought forever.<div><div>tequila sours - tequila, lemon juice and simple syrup<br /><div><div>handmade tortillas - masa and water - too simple</div><div>soy rizo - you can find this at Trader Joe's</div><div>fried corn - take 2 cups of frozen corn place in small frying pan w/ a pat of butter and fry up add s&p to taste</div><div>can of black beans </div><div>avocado salsa - which is basically all the ingredients for guacamole but chopped instead of mashed. </div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 196px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjP0HHNQ2nv7fgxSzN3g2BrITa6nxqOJGlcr_-ksG3a0aHXfW2js4PQ40jNPEuU1SupOPNHJ4Ts3Q8rxHcHbp96s8033UXrIIOjr82RM2lzEY_-2ECcrAmGJjlWS4WhqkLuR5fQvU5T4GyM/s200/DSCF9319_2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436024929252761058" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmcLEMJkhCQYLi_qMxsRK2wAg34dQh49-YVd_zUixNNZ3eB6Ianr9zXa5FcjBXEYIq0SefZ4m6h7WLz-SM6luhT7nIUO3PKzsJjN9OqIKvxkF0YYGDRm2zEzG5_fSv-HPEBH3KIyZWbBKF/s200/DSCF9333_2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436024940688706178" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik83KmrAR1SNcdlqzct_PRWrtksacWTurJP1fCEG1fD_bnI_EOmzVB1EVDe8hDnqzfw1HvEOrSHh4H7NDKiKC4AqroSPijM1Or1MQ2llXUYbNpp0TfrlG8jEcGtCs7Ktq4PcK0L_4HIV5u/s200/DSCF9336_2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436024950206117170" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEMusRlq_keo4kZM4RrIkmMpEDRoaBjrLlWGcvy2mVGLFoXyQ8W0kLtvaNTqzc2etkVMlubuwr_4qxKSlhVUcVv6UeyZrFSRVedymnNG0QMvfExuofYEiLLFoavH3AdYrZoc0K19xrz6z-/s200/DSCF9337_2.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5436024954885067122" /></div><div><br /></div><div>Cooking with my husband is so romantic. Now I'm not exactly sure why that was my answer because I'm a bacon and butter freak and really there are no substitutes to either of these things and I say that even after the vegan challenge but I found some great food along the way.<div>I asked some vegan and vegetarian friends where to start and it was pretty much the same - make sure you get the vitamins you'll be missing from dairy and meats. Read the label on everything because meat product could be disguising itself in fancy words that don't sound like they would be meat at all. One friend gave me the <a href="http://www.happycow.net/">Happy Cow</a> website and that was a huge help. Another friend recommended a restaurant called <a href="http://www.fattyscafe.com/">Fatty's</a> in Eagle Rock which ended up being our only vegan dining experience and not because we were afraid to go anywhere else or because we loved it so much which we did but because we were so eager to cook.</div><div><br /></div><div>First vegan market trip.</div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc624yuTKVxkt0PTU4mMVze7fb7FfPkonlEP4nHKoIE6VOdho0oi-A3dzxgMFHIRougyqp2pQn4UnwiaCL9N-tyQRB2Wc7s_g7x7kBx8c_6b2GSDskvKd_uMtUad3F3ORRJfbPQWUW1d0N/s200/DSCF9293.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5435534077423400338" /></div><div>That chickenless chicken has great texture and color but didn't taste like chicken because it's not. The Earth Balance fake butter was not to my liking so it's still in the fridge with one scoop out of it. </div><div>I bought a vegan cookbook but I didn't really use it for cooking but for the info on all things vegan and why we're vegan. I bought <a href="http://www.amazinggrass.com/green-superfood.html">SuperFood</a> and drink that every morning. </div><div><br /></div><div>My favorite meal I really just thru together - brussel sprouts and tofu. </div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxV-XbXJkSTl15ELuh4FvGr_VyYyeD1I9btVQ9Lhod3_jo-Sl5zwPSpl3oEyiHaa-jkWqUq_VhjoX3KVJC4OtQLdXcYNIyMsHBiOY6UXaKIA4od4swoUcoHuM9faiHxIdLxtJ-ZYweUTgj/s200/DSCF9312.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5435538437078403458" /></div><div>1 lb brussel sprouts chopped</div><div>1/2 package of extra firm tofu sliced into 1/2 inch thick pieces </div><div>1 Tbspoon olive oil</div><div>1 Tbspoon pine nuts</div><div>juice from one lemon</div><div>1 tspn sesame oil</div><div>1 tspn sesame seeds</div><div>salt and pepper</div><div><br /></div><div>in medium high skillet saute brussel sprouts in the olive oil for 2 mins with a pinch of salt and pepper. salt and peper your tofu and add to the pan and let brown about 2 minutes. add pine nuts and let toast a bit. follow up with the lemon juice. turn off heat and add sesame oil and sesame seeds. s&p to taste.</div><div>this is my fave dish and I think you can do a lot with it. add ginger or garlic or use almonds instead of pine nuts. </div><div><br /></div>camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-33373329233721350432010-01-23T09:13:00.000-08:002010-01-23T09:32:23.775-08:00Sharks are everywhere! My son Maxwell is serious about sharks. This crazy obsession is taking over our house. Every discussion starts off with sharks or ends up about sharks. This boy sees sharks in everything. His dream is to feed sharks and tame them and not just any old shark it has to be a great white shark. If he could watch Jaws everyday he would and there are days he's watched it and asked to watch it a second time and being a very supportive mother I've let him. Until about 8 months ago he was all about trains and travel town but now he's forgotten about trains and his room that's decorated in nothing but trains just isn't cool anymore. We really do love his obsession for sharks but it does make me wonder what the next obsession for him will be...race cars? mountain climbing? tattoos? sky diving? grind core? one could only hope.<div>.<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhO9O0k0L6FJkO7cgR3XCgo2WGlyYU88X2VjcSp4favCUiwj965C254uVgXAjT_qq0TCszSR5_shyOpGVYer6JgFI89m-3S1vLlqpZ9cK-_1iuDcSpOP0qp4EvzcReR1FfzIiZEnGthZjln/s200/DSCF9217.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5429986900371728962" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjixlXAEGmiwFDmVPlnOvJwPdzPY8q0BjtMsEwu2rlumQWH8KHGYOk6WXexTqxrXfI5WMp8OJ-2BEgwj7j6sJAn2RgFx6sMdNYOwPD76ma-Nx2y5uL0Ys1H8EwX2-6VTfIh98VAH1yBGMyd/s200/DSCF9248.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5429986910671651538" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNF0zzcpWOvxOo8h5fN6is8fO4AuWO2LL4guqyuaE0hbXXPa0O47GTFhoL51t4knd3ygVBF54gzyUNWZF3ZRxApGv56kenO1bJYEeCPZLVgaUuMt1DzM22_O2Q1f5EqjmBVKIeUVFMBEm2/s200/DSCF9286.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5429986917214160706" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4TBzCDH1RpSXZO7D2IzubR7UD80mQPZQb6ccgUyTnpR_NBu7ts39DZ-qdMIPe-jK299M3s6pCTYkBEOWFcWD4kzyQ11f49OUif5tPEw_pORZQD07oKSEJmYb4F3kOqzLR2fJNs37fr1tA/s200/DSCF9291.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5429987524678715394" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLrdS0tAEIwXh-qRyCe1zAJzR8tD0R1Ts1ERfzhEfymCymejF2PNdg5RFTRGiJdZNaZ52MRW_Wl8go1J0dncJGvOLMTuLWbFBzAGF4xs-jA2D1MhGGv9pPua8emAVUblbqijWvL4mgsZkC/s200/DSCF9290.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5429986932575962946" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHbuYnGNe-yGvTmKQzpLqApByLkwjgFfDmj7Cm72IHXMHE7XgSQkJ6qpmTGikZqmTcmriD7_OPT9NsebmVeRK_WeYp0poaRDPE8AXPx6IoKOMMgTgaaIY1pWtbV6SZt3pknCk3RfYdjCZk/s200/DSCF9288.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5429986925527397858" /></div>camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-60708644031285549232010-01-11T19:06:00.000-08:002010-01-11T19:54:10.186-08:00Shark Themed Birthday Party<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYCGiesCcZ7QyDfXbUGJs_iOS4oJxh0ajyfq5uMJ53EZ-mYJ-TyxnY_tdFerqZVj_sjo98LybZKxQmn5FkNrpSexoX-1XiZv82-99F3vJQOXsVL7dy5p5PG3bdFzzwbtybu0YhFeuxQ5sx/s1600-h/P1030218.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYCGiesCcZ7QyDfXbUGJs_iOS4oJxh0ajyfq5uMJ53EZ-mYJ-TyxnY_tdFerqZVj_sjo98LybZKxQmn5FkNrpSexoX-1XiZv82-99F3vJQOXsVL7dy5p5PG3bdFzzwbtybu0YhFeuxQ5sx/s200/P1030218.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5425695514462945090" /></a><br /><br /><br />Maxwell's shark themed birthday party was a great success. About 2 months before the party I scoured the internet in search of anything & everything shark related. I found some great stuff on <a href="http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/search/processRequest.do?Ntt=shark+&x=0&y=0&requestURI=searchMain&Ntk=all&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchallpartial&N=0">Oriental Trading C</a>o, <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_i_1?rh=i%3Atoys-and-games%2Ck%3Ashark&keywords=shark&ie=UTF8&qid=1263266846">Amazon</a> & <a href="http://www.shindigz.com/search.cfm?searchCriteria=shark&B1.x=0&B1.y=0&searchType=google">Shindigz</a>. Chris and I also visited the Toy District downtown LA and found some great party favors for the kids to take home. I ordered the bounce house from <a href="http://www.magicjumprentals.com/">Magic Jump Renta</a><a href="http://www.magicjumprentals.com/">l</a> and the tables and chairs from <a href="http://www.arentalconnection.com/">A Rental Connection</a>.<div><div><br /></div><div>I placed butcher paper on the kids table with glass bowls that held crayons, bubbles, plastic sea creatures, gummy sharks, goldfish snacks and party snaps.</div><div><div>The shark fins were tons of fun only wished I had ordered more of those. Plastic blow up sharks were fun too! The kids ended up bringing them into the bounce house for even more fun. Found a huge cut out of a shark for pictures and a shark banner wishing Maxwell a Happy Birthday.</div><div><br /></div><div><div>The menu was pretty simple and yummy too - crockpot mac n cheese, pigs in a blanket, mini sandwiches, salads and KFC because who doesn't love KFC? okay maybe vegetarians.</div><div>The cake was made by <a href="http://www.portosbakery.com/">Porto's</a> bakery in Burbank.</div><div><br /></div><div>This was a huge party for us because all of Maxwell's friends from his kindergarten class were invited along with all of our family and closest friends. I knew he'd be overloaded on gifts so I had asked his classmates to donate in Maxwell's name to <a href="http://www.seashepherd.org/">Sea Shepherd</a>. Sadly thousands of sharks are killed each year for their fins alone and thrown back into the water to die on the ocean floor. Maxwell's dream is to someday swim with the sharks. This looks like one of those neighborhood bars / restaurants that's been their for decades but it's not. This place is new with an old feel. The decor is all recycled from various bars and restaurants. A little pricey for lunch at least for us it is but for cocktails and apps it's just right. This is usually a stop for us before a concert or a show. Get the rice balls they are totally amazing and try one of their cocktails - you will love 'em!camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-89868550150293546342009-11-04T06:23:00.000-08:002009-11-04T07:01:12.401-08:00PCC FLEA MARKET<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ8VXc6EOzMmIxUxgU_DETAPght0NImhsp1QSzI2HnYRAegYsCsdJk5IJOKWfYkU8qlT7x1u09JKUZdEgOghStWdvxhgQ3FGxengJWmGobkf38L-L7YHjvqoh8KdylM8PvyeUJJhtgaEiZ/s1600-h/DSCF9122.jpg"><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ8VXc6EOzMmIxUxgU_DETAPght0NImhsp1QSzI2HnYRAegYsCsdJk5IJOKWfYkU8qlT7x1u09JKUZdEgOghStWdvxhgQ3FGxengJWmGobkf38L-L7YHjvqoh8KdylM8PvyeUJJhtgaEiZ/s320/DSCF9122.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400257037576156738" /></a><br /><br />The first Sunday of every month is a Flea Market at Pasadena City College. Chris and I try to get there often and when we do we always leave with a cart full of fun stuff. This time we decided to bring the boy. Can he handle a Flea Market? This child is impatient like most 5 yr olds are and he can't really let you enjoy an hour or two of your favorite things so why would I torture myself? <div>We gave the boy his favorite shark made in China by way of Paris and told him we were going to a Flea Market. He seemed excited but "What's a Flea Market?" well Maxwell you will soon find out. Several cool things about this Flea Market are it's free and most of it is in a 4 story parking garage. So we started out at 10am straight to the parking garage and boy was he surprised. When you look at something you do often from a child's point of view you see things quite differently and suddenly there were toys everywhere! Funny how I'd never noticed them.</div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9FV_XtYXrTSX9lHb96HU64ZI9GdMTIDFwUQCHD9PxXRgMVfhPYu_oc2bTC7CSgoNK8S5x6I4R356qftCwBU6u39BOgrQTWHWK-Ep_Y0T-GPj_wssm_StO2jZ-fACL3F0PxL5LCVCB62bO/s320/DSCF9107.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400257017525597778" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 305px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_C1IGN6WpL9e1ABAyjUj-7-8VZyyjXqYjdSAJZrXUxzKxpbvyE-B9_T08dINAzbc_BbOs8uCM-j8cyd4luat2H6V-bZpnqOOLTak3rSxoK33GCYh9Ubjc6UJtWu_SplRWaBXjSPrj_Cac/s320/DSCF9110.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5400261181128300114" /></div><div>Maxwell and shark walking to the flea market. I recall thinking if i ever get married I would love for Eric to take my pictures. Well our wedding was private and nobody was to know about it so I had to ask Eric if I could borrow his camera to take to Cambria for a small trip I planned. He was happy to lend it but couldn't guarantee it would work. I went to <a href="http://www.samys.com/">Samy's Camera</a> in Pasadena to buy the film which only Fuji makes now. I took some test photos and really loved it. The camera worked perfectly. Gordon our witness took the picture of us. These are just a couple of pictures from our wedding day and one picture of my camera that Chris bought for me on Ebay :-)camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-71385830577320153882009-08-08T08:52:00.000-07:002009-08-08T09:23:36.721-07:00Owls<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6IvziXQ0j_XOwxMa2r-qTovTt5PsKs4VaoWorhcZyobba13xr6M-O0VboZjLNf2nzUsn5qJAFHKn8q8etdqreZD3ae2W7wpvKIjqiVD9Ujms-udLZjSdHnZZozahX-lPp2878klO2kkZF/s1600-h/P1010218.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6IvziXQ0j_XOwxMa2r-qTovTt5PsKs4VaoWorhcZyobba13xr6M-O0VboZjLNf2nzUsn5qJAFHKn8q8etdqreZD3ae2W7wpvKIjqiVD9Ujms-udLZjSdHnZZozahX-lPp2878klO2kkZF/s320/P1010218.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367628509892726002" /></a><br /><br />One day while driving to my friends house in South Pasadena I found an antique store and it called to me "come in, you'll find everything in here". So I went it (didn't want to disappoint him) and found EVERYTHING. That store was and is so jam packed with stuff you can hardly walk thru to the other end. I'd love to spend a week cleaning it out and reorganizing it plus I'd keep all the good stuff for myself! Well on this first trip to the antique store I didn't get very far when I spied this sweet little white porcelain owl. I fell in love with him and had to have him so I brought him home. Next thing I know I'm looking at owls everywhere I go but not buying any of them because none of them spark my interest until I saw this large white pitcher at a bakery/wine tasting room in Los Olivos. It was our wedding day and we were heading up to Cambria but we wanted to stop and do a little wine tasting...can't drive passed Los Olivos without wine can we? Well I don't want to find out! So that was the second owl and still not really a collection until last weekend at the PCC flea market and there they were those owl bookends reaching out to me and so my husband asked the man how much and to my surprise a fair price at $25. So I guess what I'm trying to say is don't listen to antique stores. <img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 291px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5xZbtKFZMCEeKLbK8ONZRIHGcqEDJoFiSz19Q8wy0E-qB6O-4ym2gRhZgPGIY3-q8T7XVB6aN6OwqaITbhxDiMnDLhEZ08tDKA0vnJI09w__IxFcMgR_hnEIeITQREwz8P_Yb-i8v_sQo/s320/P1010219.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367627885575792450" /><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm5Wr_F91-GsNJprXQwEKhd5VHuT0WEMitVPr73PtnpB6BN0oDhIIvtAbu9aZoBg5p6YRhtT_cdxYTNJF9ifG44U9tc5EfclEwG_QVLPCJCOGm17sy8Bip0Mmr8OQkNF2zisuwrWPjjYLI/s320/P1010216.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5367627892304906114" />camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-66595293108020801492009-07-06T19:32:00.000-07:002009-07-06T19:52:16.138-07:00MIXED BERRY SPOON CAKE AKA THE GREATEST DESSERT IN THE WORLDI found this recipe last summer in Food & Wine Magazine. This recipe is so simple and so easy you can't go wrong. You will find that this dessert is freakin' delicious and everybody will tell you so. Change it up by adding peaches, apricots or blueberries. Serve it warm with ice cream. <div>Filling:</div><div>4 pints strawberries (2lbs), hulled & quartered</div><div>2 pints blackberries</div><div>2 pints raspberries</div><div>3/4 cup sugar</div><div>2 Tbsps cornstarch</div><div>Batter:</div><div>1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour</div><div>1 cup sugar</div><div>2 tsps finely grated lemon zest</div><div>1 1/2 tsps baking powder</div><div>1 tsp kosher salt</div><div>2 eggs</div><div>1/2 cup milk</div><div>1 tsp pure vanilla extract</div><div>1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, melted</div><div><br /></div><div>Filling: In a bowl, toss the berries with the sugar & cornstarch, let stand for 10 mins. </div><div>Batter: Preheat oven to 375. In a medium bowl whisk the flour, sugar, lemon zest, baking powder & salt. In a small bowl whisk eggs, milk & vanilla. Whisk the liquid into the dry ingredients until evenly moistened, then whisk in the melted butter until smooth. </div><div>Spread the filling in a 9 by 13 inch baking dish. Spoon the batter on top, leaving gaps. Bake for one hour until the fruit is bubbling and a toothpick inserted into the topping comes out clean. Let cool for about 30 mins or more.</div><div> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu5PrAHe9d_N5bn2QVYunBYduUc9ZQjjC6FneimzF2H7vJjoVyx3wHrzwU8HB9hjMpRGAy4gBdBwsyDwSukiykq38mzSQ78XNI31O5QGVWf23VJiKoqmAntnZICgq9kgSeM8xAe-j-OKxV/s320/DSCF8627.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355544681426463298" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgM8Kt27Q2gle0iHPU36-meztK1QgRjPqXv4hr4dblPpPbp8UNRpfmsN_FOIje7HtM_jpdVXFfQprV8wW0-7BRvQaNnlwkJxtBpz15TmO-38iBRaFVk6rLnDLe7YRjxGFn__oABHudSuNaP/s320/DSCF8628.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355544690198775266" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLmAePt_o2lNxyGL72aqMZ_2D8AjVCSjbmd1OV3mmgpgVTD5kUtJix8GO_aSSHu3flkkNZlU_89vG2DFtGfbHgGXBc4zq5KPJKNxQ_bhmUHa1f5zfEbeOA-_fNv9UlgAbt_1kYHeiOpbAH/s320/DSCF8629.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355544693634001154" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQDELK0ExwK_L_xZ8VNftJQf-aymwjmYJGfcU857OC_bW3zemh3ABNCvIuCIeWko7abyknT9AiLPmqmfk3NJSXQ8qn6sQJ9DKJ1TPoqQpehmIL9sFN9NvL9DjTwN7vT0g1TCdRJvMDznYt/s320/DSCF8631.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355544701674587538" /></div><div><br /><div><div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div></div></div></div>camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-59435896252494412912009-05-28T07:05:00.000-07:002009-05-28T07:31:27.705-07:00April 23, 2009<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKjchTZD270AEU2vRmUbi6wGB68FP2qv7vzN2dP-ZxQ_bD9__kdoMk6InkR7AMAZRVrZOdVC4bQ5TKFVFhDjt0ZxIi4JmnhHtdHa1QRH7Bg2ZH4wYYEFCVOOjgiXWF2VqRcfUda82kTXAv/s320/P1000043.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5340881540985081106" />On April 23rd Chris and I married in Cambria, CA at the <a href="http://santarosachapel.com/occasions.htm">Santa Rosa Chapel</a>. Since we were eloping all planning had to be top secret. We contacted the chapel and found Judith Larmore to officiate and she brought Dr. Gordon Lindburgh to witness. Gordon was also our photographer. Our wedding day was perfect and I'm so glad we did it our way. I look back on that day and remember every moment of it and how happy it was. We went for a drink which turned into dinner at The Brambles Dinner House. The bartender asked us if we were at a wedding and we said "yep our wedding" and she quickly brought out a bottle of champagne for us. Chris and I sat and enjoyed our day and laughed at how easy and special it was.<div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxYYl2Hj4yOx3Wac14X7c7oTFzRJP2uAJCt7qmlM0iLYIhcUD3rxGqGy0ynseVXpGyTyMGjCnMU4D8WNUHxNVmacMmKARJZYbRh-xyly_9jADqZzDXfdg1l8DHwopjWzr2Gq4C3e6RJDcK/s320/P1000080.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5340881548624840642" /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></div>camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-41594507290337460902009-04-12T18:18:00.000-07:002009-04-12T18:43:16.187-07:00Curry Deviled Eggs<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjTgOyzzfJX9_J7h_gSI0HPr2nOjYMRf_QNKhnBb-ZZKklGJFapkA5XXSD7V38ffOAmRamkJQV4vb58ifhdkSaWT1cZoDoU3q_qy4h5_3rmr9F7a3tssLkDEwXGAS5fht0eIB6sluH_hB6/s1600-h/DSCF8320.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjTgOyzzfJX9_J7h_gSI0HPr2nOjYMRf_QNKhnBb-ZZKklGJFapkA5XXSD7V38ffOAmRamkJQV4vb58ifhdkSaWT1cZoDoU3q_qy4h5_3rmr9F7a3tssLkDEwXGAS5fht0eIB6sluH_hB6/s320/DSCF8320.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5323983439434575618" /></a>I LOVE deviled eggs and this is my favorite! This recipe was given to me by my good pal <a href="http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1522927065&ref=nf">Byron</a>, though I don't think he has ever tried it himself, I will always give him credit for it. I brought these to Easter Saturday in the park and they were a hit. That's a caviar garnish on the top, pretty fancy aye?! <div>10 hard boiled eggs peeled and sliced in half</div><div>3 Tbs of nonfat plain yogurt</div><div>1 Tbs of dijon mustard</div><div>1 tsp of curry powder</div><div>salt & pepper</div><div>caviar for garnish</div><div>Empty yolks into bowl and add yogurt, mustard, curry powder and mix well. Add salt & pepper to mixture and load up your eggs. Spoon a bit of caviar on top of each egg and serve. FYI - if you are making this in advance of a party add caviar just before serving or the liquid from the caviar will run and it won't look all that pretty. If you don't care for caviar use a sliced olive on top or some chives. </div><div>p.s. That's a circa 1987 deviled egg tray made by Tupperware purchased in Sonoma, CA for $2. </div>camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-91364958503696201472009-04-05T09:10:00.000-07:002009-04-05T09:42:19.178-07:00Easter Eggs<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-FEd1JP2NqqrZZcu_ZHsE6q6JE2bcCX6N4ed8jhWs6nIaxY6HefaTuZgWVMJZIL33cwBGEsWcEhuycM9ughBRHRCk7DDJnsDokbCc-WL2QIobVnIIfMz0SP8n49rX8SbJ871ShhSzKy1n/s200/DSCF8318.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5321245678134503202" /><br /><br />Time to decorate eggs! This was always a good time in our house. Mom would buy the <a href="http://www.paaseastereggs.com/">Paas Egg Decorating Kit</a> and we'd go at it. Now it's Max's turn to try some egg decorating. Bought a dozen white eggs. We boiled the eggs which seems easy enough but it's never been very easy for me. Four of the eggs cracked in the boiling water so I boiled 4 of our brown eggs and just figured those would be well, interesting. Our supplies were:<div>Paas Egg Decorating Kit </div><div>Acrylic Paints</div><div>Aluminum foil</div><div>Glitter</div><div>Rubber Cement</div><div>Max was happy with the traditional Paas decorating but I wanted something a little different so I went for the acrylic paint and poured some in the aluminum foil. I crumbled up the aluminum to get the paint spread out and put my egg in and wrapped it up. When I opened the foil there was a very pretty marbled egg. I did about 6 this way and then went back added some glitter to a couple of them and then some rubber cement to a couple others. The rubber cement I let stay on the egg and dry a bit and then dipped in the Paas dye. The effect was different and something to experiment with in the future. I didn't let it dry long enough but it still took on a neat splattered look. The great thing about egg decorating is you can't really mess up. </div><div><br /></div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgz2DH_3QlTObVtjiEC0oXfVnsuWns7YyKzYZqiA9mgeg3ZklQZWL_Tgu7qYIN4h25I4whVP0IHM6DDoDypuovOcThaYks1iXT28Mx_yuUpZh27T5A52GJEBuqWhcBsr2jUBDIHT4X2JTqa/s200/DSCF8305.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5321245660032260306" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhl1D_KeqnPMM1u4fQcGucDTIJroIV51LvceDN2mvYs_u-Y0NUeEcl8dwQavvy3me_GQZDtLXtoiwnOh-8c_QBiMZU0ZRfXRBBcjnEJgiee1eTuU09n8tGexQlTxO8uycs3_EXrTVaDX_N/s200/DSCF8306.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5321245667156949490" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiwrLZ_xZy_ACUDhkajv9AB0fxUPdrLUrgB8_yIFCX1iTo90frGwbRdgJjaTbIby-rSXW7xS1C09rIGhs7AJKnOLxHy4DGKluCfbm4lQS9VvZg-Xu-FlEJOjDefVI-T9AOF-CFyOZ_gnc0/s200/DSCF8308.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5321245669334865058" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjU6a2JblZ-ZmNMyU-lWU1MJD8-EtZnGeYUi3UC0BzZGpOJ1h4rzmtGepPrNWKFIqsBR1z3zbjNTBpVCVPr-qnHKHqjUAs2ACvUVcykGJz8bl8Z4mtZEvLv4BIq7hVlwB-hBRu0lB_5N1IG/s200/DSCF8307.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5321245676531235906" /></div>camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-61086573390050114702009-03-14T08:26:00.000-07:002009-03-14T09:17:29.914-07:00Pasta Dinner with KymWho doesn't love pasta? It's so versatile and easy. It can be any thing you want it to be. Many times it's just olive oil, garlic and salt & pepper and you've got a comforting meal. Well this recipe looked yummy but what will Chris think about it? Trying to get the man to eat his vegetables is always a challenge. This particular recipe I found in the April issue of Bon Apetit on page 55. The recipe is super simple. I of course did not follow the recipe completely but revised it ever so slightly to my taste buds. For instance I don't care for green beans (they squeak on my teeth) and I prefer asparagus and peas. I also added pancetta because I know the man would be looking for meat. My fabulous girlfriend Kym came over for dinner and brought a very nice Pinot Grigio. <div><br /><div>Recipe with my modifications:</div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: bold;">Spinach Fettuccine With Pancetta & Green Vegetables & Lemon-Parmesan Sauce</span></div><div>1 package of Spinach Fettuccine (Trader Joe's)</div><div>2 Tbs of extra virgin olive oil</div><div>1 cup of chopped pancetta </div><div>1 medium white onion, thinly sliced</div><div>8 ounces of trimmed and sliced zucchini</div><div>8 ounces of asparagus tops only</div><div>8 ounces of peas (frozen are fine)</div><div>1 & 1/2 cups of freshly grated Parmesan cheese + more for passing</div><div>1/3 cup of heavy cream</div><div>2 1/2 Tbs lemon juice</div><div><br /></div><div>Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling water until tender. Drain, reserving 1 cup cooking liquid and return pasta to pot.</div><div>Meanwhile, heat oil in large skillet over medium heat. Add pancetta, onion, zucchini, asparagus, salt and pepper. Saute until zucchini is almost tender, about 6 mins. Add peas and lemon peel. Toss 1 min. </div><div>Scrape contents of skillet over pasta in pot. Add 1 cup of Parmesan cheese, cream, lemon juice, and 1 cup reserved cooking liquid. Place over medium heat and toss until heated thru & sauce coats pasta. Season with salt and pepper to taste.</div><div>Serve passing Parmesan cheese. </div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZ8FOz1awC2en7AGQRGKyUTY4KB4LeyrkhQyYHCNljCumnFLPbTc6oLi7XHceCVLv02HJ70LL8hGi5MWL8-b0O7t6QRzgKxFFxqKc6OWJMtwm5k3aZJDx8cgt20joFLdtu8HSdi7j9Svdi/s200/DSCF8234.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313073348808232722" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3BIArmsIbw7lfrdZozDDArwdCZtTraJ-VOFgFKcKzjbmybhasaqu4RDdEfbZqS4lc00UHJEKplkKH2aoNNi4X_-AyyjOLXWuKLFD6HbmThMOIzW7DFYZwNlI8gI4rWBM459ggkJl7ukwd/s200/DSCF8236.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313073353977083666" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqkGjUu7sW3v9W8ZcFGE2xlzQe7Vbew7QTfxSehXE3UeHQ9IAke07d8J8QiVGGRIuFMVHs52cc79bmykMfjjDcFOn9itdGNZvhoLyCXdEWFmzuXLNq7PINQCbdsjcaiEno_NDhAV4Tb1wV/s200/DSCF8238.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313073356543070770" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzwnWX3kJniGD6j6AR7ijpnqD9KZs4QiRIKHbYd8b62_OlLAC7kMrXotATMM9zKoit8xsoF9dDMpAE-6MX7JpDE7bzVbNoVQPAtfaLDKA9tyUtEU0u8Y0yYKpkGVgyY9YkB3df15F0yTOe/s200/DSCF8240.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313073360705628274" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivm3iHWM2G8gx0VGVQx6WaBbAtGvhYADUh12PycYOl9X5N32oUOAlxyygCtkOc_Eoh5u547bxNGkZBDQf2v6JDOeXblj6YvCRJbD5o9zSCVFI5y9h5HJxNZi8KLCCh0H17cZGTC7qee1vD/s200/DSCF8261.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5313073365420825714" /></div></div>camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-90109155673242625952009-03-08T10:08:00.000-07:002009-03-08T10:35:32.032-07:00Magazines & NotebooksA lot of my ideas come from magazines. I am a magazine addict! There are magazine stacks all over my house. After a 6 months or so I go thru my magazines and rip out the articles or pictures that are inspirational to me. I then place these pages in a folder and eventually these ideas will go into a 3 wring binder. I'm filling three binders at the moment. #1 is for recipes #2 is for party decoration ideas and #3 is for home decor. #4 which I will be starting soon will be for clothes and shoes.<div> <img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVZ9_NC8YIPXfIEp25840wG44uMlmujJ7HiCXdw2hjna0eNPtB9826fs6HSNiA_z0y-YnfzLycbytamay55qE0sykYco1NXEtmpO9EPxEPDLwe62ANx_-AaFlyslf1EgxXOGGiQqgPnI8h/s200/DSCF8213.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310867413552102626" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLD3FVhnNKh67Qohs7lS1ZqNrkJQlRlXvC8pBQnBHoiAZ099udHdeoI1GoeqT3A1-1JdmsQldFwKe2XyzguQ18gGaYkBJEm9S6Tlfi25XXVMBndOOd9pWXjX9GBjgb-w5V2TDCq_EA_E5g/s200/DSCF8214.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310871657757698882" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5WnXCVkccP6QtzgUNl7V9ENcV7iBd4VRCt2-5IOGGxgoIgBwesqKGHs8Bbv_jsTUkvM-7TKBTsRXzbDNLu-qDO0u1nRK3OGZZ3HK0H8b8yGVwFNXMJs3-wtYLPQMrSPl48TMVid9r1dNd/s200/DSCF8211.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310867408851233410" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7gZpHAxtRVabtia_gFoWV0VOpE5k-9Pse2NkwsIK827mkraDDND-tVjWzP92_Tg7AihZgDrwG44Us-VEGhTOVySsdFowNGvD91nwBhnwe3R6nsNUNFdMPv44j6fpWWWedllobyskpotPa/s200/DSCF8209.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310867389803130210" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4Cm550ac4SOiYNxhQw5SAOKyDyxJ7P_LBDtDDb_FLBRuMVsmVVggbmZ9bIZXLK3HsCZxHhv_KDT92M3kq9nRaj-YckfE3yrKBlNwrrrCnYUnUpesbhn-jAFqE6uNHUeuDMf2ciSZObO-a/s200/DSCF8210.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310867399044165858" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDjvorRw-8g9MYswoFSzDXV_vylwpXiYlLye2j9_UtAVj_BaT-NqVAd9RjKIGf3cwSN4UvWxWmuCSbOflroMqrradPaKRFJo1j7fA0ITkeJyfJm_Ustumj1gNyixzn5KovrumQ9Lty1Krl/s200/DSCF8208.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5310867373791918946" /></div><div><div><div><br /></div></div></div>camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-29233760433801699622009-02-11T06:56:00.000-08:002009-02-11T07:15:00.930-08:00Cheese Fondue NightFor a couple of years now my pal Gina and I have been wanting to go for fondue but haven't found the time. So we decided to do it ourselves. Last Christmas Gina gave me a fondue pot and cookbook and we finally put it to good use. We went with a Cheshire Cheese and Ale recipe mostly because it looked the easiest and there were a lot of dipping options. Gina and I got all ingredients from Whole Foods. We dipped cauliflower, pearl onions, potatoes, bread, sausage, pears and apples. Served with a sparkling wine from Cougar winery in Temecula and a Pinot Noir from Hook & Ladder Winery. We cranked our 8trk and enjoyed our feast! <div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI5LyNq_VM8RQXETyjBQt2kmR5rkbA1h2_lYerlZ8zoeqo9g3IINZSpWFMR-5OZQhF10xmOHLHN4AxrcUtqdMJA9NCG7XnpTOep9u8QpNwCfjgQyEL-JyU5Wm4ces4iv42mvP_Oqh0y8MQ/s200/DSCF8109.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5301556570677514258" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFDet1CuXkNjnKie6m3G2f4hUfzSrVQpjDAf-TFC-J_OdHXpAKGjKR2zikKG8ut0I-wyUF433yFzKQLKy9mOs9O1aPVge1bLZpIHEU43FDbw_SUnU43AmiWsFgg12W5khw05lu_lc_nYRx/s200/DSCF8120.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5301556577553776290" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvmwUMmPGw03H3e47G2WrqBOJyuJLE01z7eM_BEsg3dElG-NAuCx3kQlSsInVl3h_GE6ovPSkmG0NO_MT1BskEBearK8tAcqDl0qNOaJHYUtvG1XvkkoVkpdlEaJwaYPCkEvelOmDVtRiF/s200/DSCF8124.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5301556588965757570" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYkBxKcvTszJUOzm1k1gbqdiBsrxN4QPJU6u5c9vGnN9thV73LcL4BnsA7TC-KIvHIkfXWcc-sxVLQsypRVICPfdF2gsuLtOyrfJO4KbbvyEDS-s6-LZtsg7zi-e9PBZcz7ts8d44lC4rP/s200/DSCF8125.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5301557173349803826" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdRQ4jevC6C8mz-JnM-CA2ZQ0IyoKlaVO31ZI9uwCvQRiizls_SbAlVFOqLi7qsXipagymEFqjlAltTtlPGMPcwIesCuoVoTRhVm744XjgdbK_mzjPoepfB1OVcrQ1cKau2rDWTheuoi6e/s200/DSCF8127.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5301557181556123970" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9kmosGV6RAC9rC6fIGeJ8jGS4Vu1Aqk7tC6_URHnvf6J7ef-jSD8l5IQ-xsZuAG16dLATcHbXfcv5bmuHeugZFpvn7N6c4rXdGMfZyYRGm5dyu5v8Sd2T1PQIuN5oGuKSH8fDrDF0fJZh/s200/DSCF8123.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5301556581607002066" /></div>camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-5946549937978542742009-02-07T10:27:00.000-08:002009-02-07T11:07:25.279-08:00Steak With Cabernet SauceThis was last night's menu:<div>Steak With Cabernet Sauce</div><div>Mashed Potatoes </div><div>Roasted Garlic and Rustic Bread</div><div>Grey Wolf Zinfandel </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div>We were in Napa, Sonoma and Paso Robles for my birthday last week and we ate and drank everything! While in northern California I read a lot of articles about organic meats and grass fed beef. Chefs are choosing only the best quality meats and veg for their customers and serving some amazing dishes. No more antibiotic injected beef for us! With all that said it inspired me to make something tasty. Took a trip to Whole Foods and found some very nice rib eye steaks for this recipe (no filet mignon available). Chris really enjoyed it so this will be on the menu at our house.</div><div><div style="text-align: left;">4 Tbsps chilled butter</div><div style="text-align: left;">4 filet mignon steaks</div><div style="text-align: left;">1/3 cup chopped shallots</div><div style="text-align: left;">2/3 cup Cabernet Sauvignon</div><div style="text-align: left;">1 generous Tbsp drained capers</div><div style="text-align: left;">1 Tbsp Dijon mustard</div><div style="text-align: left;">1/3 cup chopped fresh parsley</div></div><div><br /></div><div>Melt 1 tablespoon butter in heavy large skillet over medium high heat. Sprinkle both sides of steaks with salt and pepper and cook in skillet. When steak is done remove and tent with foil. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in same skillet over medium high heat. Add shallots and saute 1 minute. Add Wine, capers and mustard; simmer until slightly thickened, about 2 mins. Stir in parsley and reduce to medium low. Whisk in remaining 2 tablespoons of butter. Spoon over steaks. </div><div><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuC5ZanMo6iL1oezVRkf6_eew80uLsmtWVO-dw86DfidZF93aJO65BhfWmP9DYIsIPOmcViQ5GABl_w_8dr5sXwBJZVij4VafCa7p59R5GC1R5Na25WNPAiMgasD8gO_V_443W5R_QFelL/s200/DSCF8095.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5300133563224059618" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIjw0lOT9hugswcppWjucM1rvQZdPPmNqNXpSXoGTacn3FCnUtMZZzaZXvpPTYNtv3Fi_R8UW6UJQPpxk9c6O-5P764bt7e6fpTvJJpJfYEJ_P5hJ_p1WchR53NAjIHi-xHVSf8mwERJbO/s200/DSCF8096.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5300133563447832930" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixOxrB8w92-MPoVHhyphenhyphenYvvxp3Lr7WbvIzmBbMopt6P0rbmlhfpCae4SxgO36kB_Gw8ehHg3K5SYUlPYm3saRh80W7fPn9KxY2f3giid-APdux5aZviYXBTSEq6qa6Aq73GSNR2i2u1pWFgb/s200/DSCF8103.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5300133569894545778" /><img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMPc_G22IHAEyQjY7zb-LzPJbeBMpgB2jNiQ24aK9jzrQH2TvZsKTZ097vxvtRDfCkDhk5m-VjYoeo9b7rB-N7xQIymaCw2yHudIiBa3xuEvcUK9BQcsQFdIqH8Gy05tEne6cTBv86jUcV/s200/DSCF8094.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5300133575370693378" /><br /></div>camillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15256823314154166871noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7057811523685510821.post-16191218812430792702009-01-18T07:32:00.000-08:002009-01-18T08:24:42.207-08:00The Ramos House Cafe<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPH1w_nje3rtoq20CpiYDSDxnDZVNHU3jROkgrMotXV-1DIGEnLkSKCFuM9gYjI5G3SQNn7yHSyE77CqWT-x8YXYaM-i5gOXHJPsLltXt-zC1BUn3yWaL0x6bHRnqUCORylhTBBEsRj-rR/s1600-h/DSCF7849.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPH1w_nje3rtoq20CpiYDSDxnDZVNHU3jROkgrMotXV-1DIGEnLkSKCFuM9gYjI5G3SQNn7yHSyE77CqWT-x8YXYaM-i5gOXHJPsLltXt-zC1BUn3yWaL0x6bHRnqUCORylhTBBEsRj-rR/s320/DSCF7849.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5292663761950999442" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg034Ei3DoJ9fDrYtOI4DcfjGLk8ocSt_rvxiRWHHoypZzlpASILAQfwN2njOOjv-2CwySMt7sFN7Z6pmdYaTwUWJs4JuITiM-7ciO3xtTIYFaB3cjCksHg2k-ZWh7UEB1P0k4qrZBTLADL/s1600-h/DSCF7846.JPG"><img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg034Ei3DoJ9fDrYtOI4DcfjGLk8ocSt_rvxiRWHHoypZzlpASILAQfwN2njOOjv-2CwySMt7sFN7Z6pmdYaTwUWJs4JuITiM-7ciO3xtTIYFaB3cjCksHg2k-ZWh7UEB1P0k4qrZBTLADL/s320/DSCF7846.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5292663746947439138" /></a>Chris and I were in <a href="http://www.sanjuancapistrano.net/">San Juan Capistrano</a> antiquing and fell in love with the cutest little part of town called <a href="http://www.losriosdistrict.com/">The Los Rios Historic District</a>. We walked around this quant town that was just on the other side of the train tracks and came across the best brunch. I love brunch! The restaurant is called <a href="http://www.ramoshouse.com/">The Ramos House Cafe</a>. The restaurant was casual and very welcoming. We were greeted by a kitty sitting on the hostess's chair and a dog on the front porch. The dining area is on a lovely little patio with a fireplace, heat lamps and blankets in case you ge<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjETNl9nU3C3vzy2URvbj1MgVdA_bBUD5IqtKOscyeP3gibOGoIBjcTbHJQNdVJNidll4NJtbJWC10S7r52s0SQse3l6bva5CdMsSDbjxUgCTJ_kbVIKkiYavEH5mjsp9WYU-9uMxmoYsyt/s320/DSCF7847.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5292663753330641602" />t too cold. I had a delicious crab hash w/ smoked bacon scrambled eggs and a pomegranate mimosa. There's so much on the menu I want to try and one of them is the Bloody Mary which looks more like a meal than a drink. The plates are filling and really could be shared. Try the black sea salt that's on the table. It looks like ground up coal but it's salt and tastes like it. This adorably town would be a great day trip on the Amtrak or <a href="http://www.metrolinktrains.com/">Metrolink.</a> You can visit The Mission San Juan Capistrano which is within walking distance from The Los Rios Historic District and the next stop on the line I believe is <a href="http://www.san-clemente.com/">San Clemente</a> which would put you directly on the<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr3vQnqB8dhsIXRmqQgEJ4Zp_00N03uFMy7vKjWhmSlIfPtkIzLVdPoMNyZgt1Htklkdq8qgTbQnhbWZeRRQc_Fovw6g7OXxOqNGR8dmeatU5u_fKlgYQpKEYCKqSX4lOcYsM3OSGoXu0f/s320/DSCF7839.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5292663769008042098" /> beach.
